Some loyalists of the former vice president of Nigeria, and the 2023 presidential candidate of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, have reacted to the resolutions rolled out by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday, in his effort to settle the political imbroglio between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike.

The eight-point resolutions unveiled by President Bola Tinubu was seen at a set of standing order to ensure "no winner no loser reconciliation" of the political crisis rocking Rivers State political space. The resolutions were reached at a late-night meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the political stakeholders in Rivers State, who are all signatories to the resolutions.

Among the people present at the meeting were a former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, and Vice President Kashim Shettima while those who signed the resolutions and also present at the meeting were Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor (Prof) Ngozi Odu, Speaker of the 27 lawmakers who are loyal to Nyesom Wike, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule; Rivers State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha; Acting Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chukwuemeka Aaron; former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Although neither PDP nor Atiku Abubakar has been able to take any reasonable step to reconcile the two warring members of the party, the spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Organization, Daniel Bwala, faulted the decision taken by President Bola Tinubu to settle the Rivers State political crisis.

Bwala stated that the directives given by President Tinubu to settle Rivers's political crisis are "illegal, unconstitutional" and should be rejected by the people of Rivers State.

He said, “The people of Rivers State should disown the so-called directive which is in itself illegal, unconstitutional, and null and void.”

Also reacting to the political solution provided to the Rivers State political crisis by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, media contractor to Osun State Government, Dele Momodu, condemned President Tinubu's intervention to resolve the political crisis within an opposition party. He equated President Tinubu's attempt to restore peace to Rivers State as a means to make Nigeria a "one-party state".

Dele Momodu called on the members of the PDP in Rivers State to reject the resolutions rolled out by President Tinubu with which he aimed to return normalcy to the political atmosphere of Rivers State. He said, “No President can be a Headmaster of both State and Federal…What manner of Democracy are we practicing that allows a President to intervene in the internal affairs of opposition parties and overrules the Constitution unchallenged, and our politicians comply as if they are in a slave camp… Opposition parties must vehemently oppose this brazen attempt at forcing a one-party dictatorship on Nigeria. The directives to RIVERS STATE by a Federal President are really absurd in legal terms…

“GOVERNOR BOLA AHMED TINUBU fought endlessly for the fundamental rights and the independence of Lagos State against the interference of PRESIDENT OLUSEGUN OBASANJO between 1999 and 2007 and went as far as the Supreme Court.

“The Governor of Rivers State has the full rights to defend his state against the suffocating strangulation of any godfather in the overriding interest of his people… Those defending the ongoing rascality neither know their contemporary history nor appreciate what freedom entails… No President can summarily reverse the decision of a legal process that seeks to protect the sanctity of separation of powers… TINUBU would have been applauded if he had the courage and fairness to call his querulous benefactor NYESOM WIKE to order and get him to work as a federal Minister. No soul could have done to WIKE what he’s doing to FUBARA today.”
