Former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and 2023 presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has met with the former Executive Governor of Kano State and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Alhaja Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The meeting was linked to the possibility of a rerun election which may be part of the judgment that will be delivered by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal. The meeting was held at the house of Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Another source related the meeting to the preparation for the 2027 presidential election by Atiku Abubakar who has been a serial presidential aspirant in Nigeria, since 2007 when his tenure as Vice President of the country lapsed.
Recall that vice president Atiku Abubakar lost the 2023 contest for the presidential seat of Nigeria to his longtime ally, a former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This was the fifth time that Atiku lost the bid to become Nigerian President. He has been losing either at the poll or during the primary election of his political party.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who came distance fourth in the 2023 presidential contest is currently having Ossie with the leadership of his party, NNPP, and his political strength is acknowledged by many political gladiators in the country.
Kwankwaso is believed to be a supporter of the presidential ambition of the incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but his failure to emerge as one of the ministerial nominees that will serve under President Bola Tinubu has been cited by many as a parting cause for the two political allies.
