Stockholm, Sweden – The highly anticipated pre-season friendly between fierce rivals Manchester United and Leeds United concluded in a 0-0 stalemate today at the Strawberry Arena in Solna, Sweden. While the match lacked goals, it offered fans a first glimpse of new signings and a tactical workout for both sides as they kick off their preparations for the 2025/26 season.

Manchester United, under new head coach Ruben Amorim, debuted several new faces, including high-profile summer signing Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon. Both players showed flashes of promise in their maiden appearances, with Cunha in particular displaying clever footwork and an ability to win fouls in the attacking third during the first half.

Despite United enjoying more of the ball and creating the better chances, particularly in the second half, they ultimately failed to find the back of the net. Casemiro saw a deflected cross strike the woodwork, and Kobbie Mainoo also hit the crossbar with a header late in the game. Leeds United, recently promoted back to the Premier League, proved resilient defensively and showed moments of attacking threat, with goalkeeper Tom Heaton making a string of impressive saves for United after the break.

Ruben Amorim utilized the friendly to experiment with his squad, making wholesale changes at half-time to give minutes to a wider range of players. This included appearances from academy prospects and established first-team members alike. Leeds also made numerous changes throughout the match, including former United players Daniel James and Largie Ramazani.

While the result won't live long in the memory for its attacking fireworks, it served as a valuable first outing for both clubs. Manchester United will be looking to address their goal-scoring woes from last season and will undoubtedly be working on their attacking cohesion in the coming weeks. For Leeds, the clean sheet against a top-flight opponent will be a confidence booster as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

The historic rivalry between these two clubs will resume in full force when they meet again in the Premier League, with their next scheduled fixture set for January 3, 2026, at Elland Road.
