Ademola Adeleke and Rauf Aregbesola Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke was caught in an emergency meeting with the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola on Friday.
The meeting which took place at the Office of the Minister of Interior, Abuja was an impromptu meeting following the first public meeting between the minister and Osun State governor Adeleke lask week in Ilesa when the Minister came to the state for the commissioning of a Passport Office in his hometown, Ilesa.
The Abuja meeting, according to Governor Adeleke was a "working visit" to the Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola who was a former Governor of Osun State.
At the meeting, beside other discussion points, it was made known to the public that the state of infrastructural development in the state was widely discussed. Most noticeably, the ongoing airport project in Osun State gained momentum as the State Governor Adeleke promised to do everything possible to ensure speedy completion of the airport project.
Governor Adeleke at the end of the impromptu meeting with the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, in Abuja said:
“I’m concerned about the state of our infrastructure in Osun. Osun remains the only state in the South West without an airport. Osun has a lot of potential, but we are restricted due to lack of infrastructure, particularly our airport.
“We would try our best to resolve all impediments and roadblocks toward the completion of the project. The potential of the airport are enormous. As an administration, we would look into it and collaborate with the Federal Government on the completion of the the project.
Aregbesola and Adeleke
Backing Adeleke's commitment to ensure speedy completion of the Airport project, Rauf Aregbesola who started the project when he was the Governor of the state, insisted that there is an urgent need for the project to be quickly delivered.
Aregbesola said “The Airport in Ido Osun is a very historic one, in fact, it is the most suitable flat plateau in the whole of West Africa for the citing of such an aircraft maintenance hangar.
“As a former governor of the state and minister in the Cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, you can be rest assured of his administration’s cooperation and support in the completion of the aircraft maintenance and cargo airport in Osun. In fact, it should now be a thing of bragging for Osun to urgently complete the airport as the State remains the only state in South West Nigeria without an airport.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, though a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has continuously given esteem regard to Rauf Aregbesola, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who worked against his party in the July 16th, 2022 governorship election that produced Governor Adeleke in Osun State.
