'This is unprofessional' -- reactions trail use of presidency X account for Edo guber campaign | The Round Table Some Nigerians have expressed displeasure over the use of ‘Presidency Nigeria’ X handle to canvass votes for Monday Okpebholo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo governorship election.
The ‘Presidency Nigeria’ X handle with the username @NGRPresident is the official handle of the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
On Saturday, the statement of Vice-President Kashim Shettima asking voters in Edo to vote for Okpebholo was published on the X handle.
In the statement, Shettima said if Okpebholo is elected governor, the state will “witness positive redefining and reshaping of governance”.
Shettima had on Saturday spoke during the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign at the sports complex of University of Benin, Edo state.

The ‘Presidency Nigeria’ X handle is expected to publish information relating to governance and activities of the president and vice-president, not political campaigns.
The development sparked outrage as some Nigerians accused the APC-led administration of “bastardising” many government institutions and agencies.
